About Kait...
Kait has been riding and working with horses since she was a young girl. As a junior, she competed extensively in the equitation and hunter arena and later switched gears to the jumpers. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with a few trainers who specialized in "problem" and green horses. Working with these professionals provided her with a wealth of information about different training techniques for various situations. Kait graduated from Alfred University in 2012 with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. Additionally, she minored in Equestrian Studies, which helped further her education in horse care and riding, in both english and western disciplines. Since branching out on her own shortly after graduation from AU, her primary focus has been breaking and training, as well as re-training off-the-track Thoroughbreds. Kait believes that you are never done learning, and continues to further her education and riding skills working with top professionals.
Kait's history with Thoroughbred began when she started working at a local Thoroughbred breeding farm in February of 2005. There she was exposed to an astounding amount of "giveaway" horses, horses that are no longer wanted by their owners. She decided these horses could easily have a life outside of breeding or other not so picture-perfect endings with a little help from her. After re-training and selling a few, this fueled her passion for giving horses a new lease on life and Kait continues this line of work today. Kait also learned about all aspects of horse care, from foals to seniors, broodmares, stallions, sale yearlings, and fresh OTTBs (both in layup and retiring), so she is extremely well versed in many aspects of horse care. Kait has also had the opportunity to work for some higher end show barns as a groom throughout high school and college, which helped to further her knowledge in exactly what it takes to keep an athlete in top condition for peak performance.
Kait is fully insured for riding and instruction and currently shares her time between her home farm Thunder Crest and a few other local training barns. She is available to travel for lessons and rides at your farm as scheduling allows, or you are more than welcome to set up an on farm lesson or schooling ride.
